Once upon a time a goat was grazing near a stream. Noticing that the grass across the stream looked more enticing (as you do), it decided to cross the stream via a fallen log that formed a bridge.
Half way across it was confronted by another goat trying to cross in the opposite direction.
Goat number one said “I was here first, back up and let me through”.
“No way”, said the other “it’s my right to pass, so out of my way”.
There followed the usual posturing and butting, until both lost their footing and fell in the stream below.
Goats may be stubborn, but they are not stupid. Those watching the log incident learned something.
Some time later two different goats met in the same way. Unable to move further, each was blocking the way of the other, until one said “Tell you what, if I lie down you can hop over me”.
“Great idea, thanks, next time it’ll be my turn”, said the other.
