Teams

For a team to perform well it must have agreed mechanisms for resolving conflicts. Tensions are inevitable and team members can find themselves in dispute for many reasons; knowing how to go about conflict resolution is therefore inseparable from effective team management. The costs of this are high as motivation and performance suffer. I use an approach that helps team members quickly re-engage, to identify their purpose as a group and refocus their energies on taking the team forward. Understanding team dynamics and developing better team communication leads to greater resiliency, so that the team can respond constructively to any interpersonal tensions that arise in the future. I provide team tools to build on success in a simple cycle of dialogue, reflection and improvement.

Part of this requires that team members agree ways of handling the interpersonal conflict and disagreements that inevitably arise when a group of people work together, and understand that the disputes that occur are often a symptom of systemic pressures, not proof of incompatibility.
