My father once told me “Nobody can say you are spoiling your children, on you can say that. It’s not for others to judge.”

I think its the same with neurosis. I was recently asked – by somebody who said they’d been told that they are – what it means to be neurotic. It reminded me of what my dad said.

There’s an old joke in therapy that explains the difference between neurosis and psychosis; if you are neurotic it bothers you, but when you are psychotic it bothers everyone else.

If you believe the psychologists, we are all neurotic to some degree (you can check yourself here but don’t take it too seriously). What really matters is not what others think of us, but what we think of ourselves.

I’m a psychologist, coach, and therapist. All my work is aimed at enabling people to improve personal aspects of their lives and work.
