When aiming to change, achieve or be something different it is worth remembering that it is generally more successful, and easier, to move towards something new and wanted, than it is to escape something old and unwanted.
Having a goal, a clear vision, or something tangible to aim for can have magnetic and almost magical effect on our efforts and performance.
Think about it this way; sports psychologists who help athletes win events focus on the goal of being quicker, jumping higher… in short achieving a goal or target. They don’t tell the competitor “Just focus on not losing”, “Make sure you don’t come last”, or, “Don’t fall over”.
The clearer and more believable the goal, the better. This is particularly true with personal change. If you’d like to transform some aspect of yourself or your life, start by getting a clear vision of who you’d like to be.
