Opportunity motivation and enthusiasm are vital ingredients for success, and you need all three to reach your goals.

We all know that you must set goals if you want to succeed in life. But there are other factors, and without them, you won’t get anywhere.

Obviously, you also need Opportunity; to do whatever it is you need to do to move towards a goal. Then you need the Motivation to take action and make things happen. Finally, you need Enthusiasm, to keep the momentum going.

Without all three of these, you’re stuck.

Lucky breaks

Opportunity comes in many shapes. It might be a lucky break, chance, a surprise inheritance, or just having the right contacts. Unfortunately, these are things that tend to happen to other people.

Acres of text have been written about motivation, and how to get it. But, despite many wise words written by wise people, most of us remain blighted by inertia, incapable of learning or applying the wisdom to get up and at ’em.

If Opportunity and Motivation evade you, Enthusiasm rarely has a chance to flourish.

Sure, you can feel enthusiastic without getting out of bed in the morning. Like me, you must have experienced that wonderful sense of eagerness to get up and do something, only to find that once you are on your feet, life gets in the way. You are still keen on your idea, but, hey, there are so many other things to do!

So there you have it. Practice your goal-setting by all means, but don’t be surprised if you fail. Now you know why.

There is another way, but it only works for a few people and they probably have some unfair advantage so don’t feel bad if it doesn’t work for you. Worth a try though and you don’t have to bother with the self-help advice.

Just get on and do it.
