As most of us find to our cost, it can be a thankless and almost impossible task to advise, teach or persuade people when they are not ready to take on our ideas. In its broadest sense, teaching is at best a hit-and-miss affair, and at worst a process that alienates people. Assuming that it automatically results in learning is can be a huge waste of time.
