The simplest and most treasured gifts are free, in monetary terms, that is. But would it still be Christmas? Just a thought experiment.
Empathy vs sympathy. We can all learn – or at least be reminded – from this.
Whichever you are there are three key factors which will probably surprise you (and others that won't).
When you do something generous for another person they feel compelled to reciprocate. Not alway, but often.
Kindness to others also helps you. Indulge yourself with an unsolicited gesture of kindness towards someone else.
Kindness is a virtue that seems to be in short supply. I expect that most of us think of ourselves as kind, as we daily dissuade ourselves from putting it into practice as often as we could.
Why we study and what we study seem to be linked to earning a living, rather than preparing us for life. The two are linked, but as so often happens we lose sight of the bigger picture.
