There is no such thing as a ‘communication breakdown’. We here about it all time time, but I think this is a an inaccurate and limiting term which does more harm than good. Here’s why.

Treatment guidelines are explicit, brief problem-solving talk-therapy is a proven treatment. We should be accepting and treating depression as the common ailment it is, not shrouding it in mystery and pretending that we don't know what to do about it.

Selective Optimism for Pessimists
There are advantages to optimism that are worth considering, but some people are put off because they don't want to be disloyal to negativity. Optimism and pessimism are generally seen as opposites, but that doesn't mean they are mutually exclusive; learning optimism does not mean abandoning negativity. If that is what turns you on, stick with it. If you tend towards a pessimistic outlook, how about learning selective optimism? That way you can get the benefits and still be true to your negativity.

It’s all very well using words like ‘inspire’, ‘motivate’ and ‘engage’, but these don’t describe what attendees should be able to do differently, or better, as a result of their training. Understanding your outcomes before you book the training will help you design content that works, and save money.
