Fairy-tales are a powerful influence, they shape our expectations in ways we don't always appreciate. Even the cynics fall into the trap. But fairy-tales never prepare us for the nitty-gritty.
If you are someone who prefers not to judge others it can be puzzling to see the reactions of the people around you. But there are times when we have to judge, and failure to do so is like losing a piece of the puzzle.
Resisting things, whether they are ideas, people or even necessities, can wear you down. More seriously, it's not a good way to go about getting what you want. This applies whether you are resisting something external to yourself, or if the struggle is purely internal.
Lots of things get damaged. Even if we are careful with them, there's still wear and tear. Never underestimate the skill or the restorer, nor the reults that can be obtained.
Kindness is a virtue that seems to be in short supply. I expect that most of us think of ourselves as kind, as we daily dissuade ourselves from putting it into practice as often as we could.
Like the tango, it takes two to gossip. You're probably not somebody who likes to feed the rumour-mill. But next time you hear a salacious tit-bit, or you secretly enjoy a slightly warm feeling when you hear of another's misfortune, remember that. Since we all enjoy it really, it would be unrealistic (and maybe socially damaging), to get rid of gossip. But why not add a bit of positive spin? It can be fun, and maybe you'll do someone a good turn.
