Some time ago I published a free crib-sheet of Mindfulness exercises. Like all of my downloads, I put this one together in response to the demand that arose during my training events. I’m telling you about it now because, in the hurly-burly that December can become for many people, it is also essential to find some quiet time. These simple exercises can provide a focus for that.
Mindfulness has origins in Eastern philosophy and Buddhism. It has been used in the West as a means of personal development for many years, and is now being increasingly taken up in education and professional development, as a stress management technique, and for its psychological benefits in therapy and personal performance.
More recently, Mindfulness has been shown to be effective with anxiety and depression. It is often linked with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I don’t know why, it has nothing to do specifically with CBT. Don’t be put off by the jargon).
Experience Mindfulness and you’ll give yourself a truly wonderful present. That’s what Mindfulness is, after all, it’s about being present.
The great thing, as this mindfulness exercise shows you, is that you already know how to do it. Making it a habit needs a little commitment but, as they say, practice makes perfect.
