Aim to punctuate your day with at least five short breaks. Anything between two and 10 minutes will do it, and your reduce the impact of stress.
"Follow your passion", the gurus say. Easily said, not so easily done... but I know short-cut.
If your job is making you feel down on a Monday and long for Friday, perhaps you need to take a cool and deliberate look at yourself and re-evaluate things. Complaining, even inwardly, only makes it worse. Listen to your intuition and decide what is really important to you.
Today may be a significant day. Even if it isn't, for you, it could be made into one. You don't have to be a philosopher to think about what's important to you, and there are more opportunities to do that than you might think.
Is choice good for us? When I was a kid crisps (chips if you are outside the UK), came in one variety, ready-salted. Now we have thirty-six varieties and counting. Having many options is not necessarily better for us, in fact it can distract and limit us. Some say that limiting choice could actually make our lives better.
Anything we consume affects us. As well as the food we eat, the air we breathe, and other elements that we absorb, we should consider the stuff that we absorb into our minds.
Cultivating the inner life means taking a pledge to knowing ourselves, and building the sort of skills that can lead to contentment and fulfilment. This requires commitment and courage and above all honesty.
