When we suffer illness it is usually transitory, we get better and move on. Sometimes it isn't and that can engender hopelessness. But that can be transitory too, if we handle it right. Either way we should not let our identity be defined by an ailment, however frightening or serious it appears to be.
For many, taking naps is taboo. Despite what the critics might say though, Nature's natural cycle by talking a siesta is definitely good for us.
