If a conversation is stuck in a well-worn groove it might be time to give it a nudge. While it's polite to listen, it helps no-one to keep going over the same old ground.
Urgency and intensity are all very well, and passion sells. But beware that they don't overshadow the point you want to make. Before you say what you want to say, make sure you actually know what you want to say. Choose the ingredients wisely, so that the listener can digest your words.
Have you noticed how arguments often develop a life of their own? Quite apart from the messy interpersonal stuff like feelings and judgements, there's the question of understanding HOW to argue. For example, the difficulty (tension, disagreement, argument), can be resolved quickly, as long as you can learn to coexist with the differences between you.
Pilgrimage is open to all. You don't have to have faith in anything except your own abilities. You can plan a pilgrimage, but not the outcome, and you don't necessarily have to arrive at the destination to enjoy a transformation.
It's unwise to suggest that misery is self-induced or to say that anyone is responsible for their own pain. But that's no reason to avoid making wise choices that can lift us out of our misery. First though, you have to know what your choices are: Column A or Column B?
As we all have to face problems in life, it will be a benefit to be light on your feet and able to adjust to new conditions. This starts with good interpersonal skills, and how you relate to others starts with how you relate to yourself. It's a win-win situation; understanding (and liking) yourself means that you can get along better with others.
Small change is often overlooked or ignored. Some people even think that it's a nuisance. But little things add up, and their growth quickens as they do. Aiming to deliberately create small change as a way to larger ambitions is equally overlooked. Yet it's a logical staring point.
